ZooBrew 101

Not all coffee is created equal.

Gourmet coffee thrives in high-altitude tropical regions found between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.  Soil, sun, shade, altitude, and microclimates influence coffee flavor.  Exotic locations such as Africa, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, South America and Hawaii boast the world’s premier coffee.

Arabica beans produce unparalleled flavor, aroma and taste.  There are five different grades of Arabica coffee: Specialty, Premium, Standard, Exchange and Off-grade.

CoffeeZoo uses only the finest Organic Specialty-grade Arabica beans available. Roasting them to perfection and delivering them fresh to you.

ZooDo's & Dont's

DO pick the brewing method that’s right for you.

Automatic Drip – The flat bottom or cone filter is the easiest method for producing a cup of CoffeeZoo.  DO pour your brewed CoffeeZoo in a thermos to keep it fresh and avoid the burnt coffee taste that comes after sitting for 20 minutes on a heat source.

Cone Filter – Brewing directly into a commuter mug or thermos.  Try pouring your water in half way and allowing it to settle slightly, and then add all the remaining water to the edge of the filter, DON’T stir.  If done correctly you will have a nice even layer of grounds from top to bottom.

French PressDO grind your CoffeeZoo fairly coarse.  Pour halfway full with hot water and swirl the grounds for 10-20 seconds.  Pour the remaining water, cover, and wait 3 minutes before plunging the filter.

Home EspressoDO grind the CoffeeZoo fine enough to make a clump if squeezed in your paw.  The grind is critical for maximum extraction of all the attributes your CoffeeZoo has to offer.

  • DO start with clean filtered water.  Coffee is 98% water and the best water delivers the best taste.
  • DO buy enough CoffeeZoo to last between deliveries and store in an air tight container in a cool, dark place.
  • DO use 2 tablespoons of freshly ground CoffeeZoo with every 8oz. of water.  If time and equipment permit, grind just before brewing.
  • DON’T reuse CoffeeZoo grounds unless it’s in your garden.
  • DON’T freeze the animals!  CoffeeZoo should never be placed in the freezer.
  • DON’T hesitate to contact us with suggestions.
  • DO have fun and enjoy your CoffeeZoo!
